Boomers can learn a lot from Millennials. As a generation, many of us Baby Boomers have never managed our careers with intention. Rather than identifying careers that aligned with our passions, many of us moved from job to job as the opportunities presented themselves. 
Now, in our 50’s and 60’s, we are looking for careers that provide us with the opportunity to do meaningful work. Whether precipitated by a layoff, stress-induced health issues or dwindling prospects in our field, many of us are considering job satisfaction for the first time. What do we really want to do next?
Millennials have been criticized by many for their feeling of entitlement, but I think they may have it right. They do deserve to be happy in their careers – we all do. As a group, these young adults are looking for careers that provide satisfaction and enable them to contribute to the common good. Isn’t that what many of us Boomers are now realizing we want? It took me 20+ years to recognize how shallow the corporate world can be. I now have a career that I love, but I sure wish I had figured it out sooner. As we raise our children, we do our best to teach them what we think they need to know to build a happy and successful life. Now it is our turn to learn from them. We all deserve job satisfaction – and it is within our reach.
