The Coaching Process

A Collaborative PartnershipThe Resume Resource Process - Trish Thomas

I know a career transition can be overwhelming, and if you have been out of the job market for a while you may not even know where to start. As your strategic partner, I will guide you through the job search process to make it as painless as possible. You will work directly with me – your personal career coach.  I will take the time to really get to know you as a person so that I can help position you for success. Here’s a little bit about my coaching philosophy

Getting Started is Simple

First step: call my office for a free 10-minute Discovery Call to determine your specific needs. Should we both feel we are a good fit, I will email you a customized proposal outlining 3 different coaching program options. Once you select your program and return the signed agreement, I will email you a secure PayPal invoice. Upon receipt of your paid order, I will contact you to schedule your Client Intake Session, where our journey together begins.

How the Pieces Fit Together

Here is a visual representation of the coaching process built upon my signature method. During our Client Intake Session, we will discuss the specifics of our coaching engagement including the steps of the coaching process, timelines and accountabilities. I have developed a set of user-friendly exercises to help identify your natural strengths, acquired skills, values, interests and ideal work culture. We can’t rush this part of the process, as I have learned over the years that what transforms a resume from average to stellar are the nuggets that come out of our conversations. After assessment, comes the awareness phase which includes research and decision making.

Once we have a soft target goal, the creative process accelerates. I will help you quantify your professional accomplishments to illustrate the exceptional value you offer an organization. This is one of the more difficult steps of the resume development process, but is critical to your success and one of my specialties.

I will collaborate with you and design professional-looking documents that reflect your personal brand. If you have an old resume, I can use that as a starting point, but most content will be written from scratch as resumes have evolved quite a bit over the last few years. If you do not have an existing resume, I have a Resume Questionnaire that you can complete to provide me with your basic information. I take pride in the quality of my work and write all resumescover letters  and LinkedIn profiles myself — I do not utilize subcontractors. I am fortunate to have a support staff to assist me with back office functions which frees me up to work 1:1 with my clients and personally create all client documents.

What to Expect

The strongest resumes are targeted towards a specific job of interest, so I will ask you to provide a list of target companies or a job posting to which you would like to apply. As part of the writing process, I will email you document drafts for your review and revision. Revisions are exchanged via email and/or telephone. The same easy development process will then be utilized for your cover letter and LinkedIn profile (depending upon package selected).

While the complexity of your project determines the turnaround time for finished products, the whole process typically takes 10 to 14 days from our Client Intake Session. Rush service is available for an additional fee; please mention this when you place your order. I am committed to your complete satisfaction, and will provide up to 3 rounds of revisions within 30 days of your initial order. In support of my green initiative, you will receive your draft and final documents electronically in Microsoft® Word. These are your documents, and I will explain how you can quickly customize them as needed for future job postings. I enjoy building long-term relationships with my clients and provide ongoing email and telephone support to keep you moving forward. I invite you to connect with me on social media, as I share job search and career tips via my blog, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
