MBTI

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) is a quick and easy assessment tool designed to identify valuable differences between individuals. It helps us gain insight into ourselves and how we interact with others, which can improve our personal relationships and overall career success. As it describes normal personality differences, the MBTI® explains why we have conflicts with certain types of individuals, feel stress in some situations, and do some things with ease.MBTI - who am I

In addition to greater self-awareness, the MBTI® helps us articulate our unique strengths and how we operate best. It also helps us appreciate differences between people, facilitating collaboration and more effective communication.

The MBTI® is used for a wide variety of personal and business purposes including self-awareness and personal development; career exploration; improving relationships; team building and leadership training.

What does the MBTI® report?

  • Where You Get Your Energy [Extrovert or Introvert]
  • How You Take In Information / Learn [Sensing or INtuition]
  • How You Process Information / Make Decisions [Thinking or Feeling]
  • How You Interact with the World [Judging or Perceiving]

According to how you answer the questions, the assessment assigns a letter indicating your preference within each dichotomy. It explains how each of us fits one of 16 personality types measured by the 4 behavioral binaries. I will help you interpret your results during our 1:1 interpretive session, and explain the distinctions of each type.

I do not use the MBTI® to assign you a label or dictate your career direction. As your Career Coach, I use the MBTI® type descriptions to facilitate your self-reflection. Together, we will explore using this information to identify your best fit occupation, which can lead to a more fulfilling personal and professional life.

Why the MBTI®?

The MBTI® is taken by more than 2 million people a year in 30 different languages, making it the world’s most widely used assessment tool. Based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological type, the Myers-Briggs® assessment is supported by 50 years of scientific research in personality theory.

While there are many free online imitators, the MBTI® is the most trusted assessment due to its unsurpassed reliability and validity. The real value comes through our in-depth interpretive session, in which we explore the subtle nuances of the 4 dichotomies and how they relate to your career satisfaction.

Personality Type and Career Success

The MBTI® is commonly used to identify career direction and roles that are compatible with how you operate best. Although psychological type does not predict success or performance, many employers use it during the hiring process to evaluate job candidates and determine compatibility. In fact, 89 of Fortune 100 companies use the MBTI® to maximize individual and team effectiveness from entry to executive levels.

The Myers Briggs® theory helps us to understand how we interact with others. When we understand our type preferences, we can approach our work in a manner that best suits our style, including how we manage our time, solve problems, make decisions and deal with stress. This information can help identify our ideal work culture and improve how we interact on teams.

For individuals, the assessment includes a quick 30-40 minute online or hard copy administration of the assessment; a personalized report and accompanying profile guide. The most important? Our 60-minute interpretation session in which we review your results and discuss how this information can be used. I also offer group sessions to facilitate team building and collaboration.
